Question by Sandy B: my mom had cataract surgery a couple years ago,?
now she says her left eye feels like she’s looking through black lace. What is going on? Her eye also seeps a pussy substance. Not all the time, but for an hour or 2, then it will stop for a day or so…. anyone have any ideas?

Hi Sandy. Has your mom contacted the person that did the surgery on her eye? If not, she needs to call them, and let them know what’s going on. It might be from that, or it could be something else that has happened since then. She should definitely get to an eye doctor. Take care.

Question by Karen J: Should I put my Scottie dog through surgery for cataracts? He is 12 years old.?
He is very healthy otherwise and still goes on walks and chases rabbits (he can’t catch them, never could), eats well, navigates through our 2-story house just fine even though he doesn’t see very well. Is it better to put him through the fear and trauma of surgery, or let nature take its course and allow him live in peace, maybe wondering why his people don’t turn the lights up? Which is the more compassionate course?

from what you said, i would let nature take its course, dont traumatize him and the surgery could kill him

Question by ataimadi: EYESIGHT: What can cause sight in one eye to change one dioper in 2 years with little change in other eye?
My right eye has changed by one diopter in 2 years. My left eye is about the same. I have cataracts in both eyes but not so advanced that Medicare will pay to have them removed. What can cause change in one eye?

Best answer:

Answer by Amy
That is really not unusual or alarming. Just like your right hand can be different from your left, your prescription will generally not be the same in both eyes.

I would not worry unless your best corrected vision got worse, not so much about the prescription itself. (Generally for cataract surgery, your best corrected vision has to be 20/40 or worse.)

So, as long as both eyes are corrected close to 20/20, don’t worry about it. : )

Question by TheEyeGuy: Why do eye diseases mostly occur in people who wear strong glasses or corrections for many years?
eye diseases like macular degeneration, retinal detachment, and cataracts?

Best answer:

Answer by Stormy
A lot of those conditions are more prone to the elderly, sometimes people with high negative prescriptions (myopes) are more prone to retinal detachments because their eye is more in the shape of an egg than round like average, leaving their retina more prone to damage.

Question by Ezio Auditore da Firenze: 11 Years ago I had a plastic lens on my eye… Can i get Laser Surgery?
Hey all, basically 11 years ago I had Eye surgery, due to my brother sling-shotting a stone into my eye(Clumsy b*s*a*d)

A plastic lens was fitted. I’m not exactly sure of the name of the procedure. I remember the optician mentioned a Cataract (It MIGHT be an Intraocular lens, but not certain)

Nowadays, I wear glasses, and having poor eye sight is ruining my life :{ I would pay any amount of money to have perfect vision again.

I know it’s a very long shot, and i’m not getting my hopes up, but is there any way I could get some of the laser eye surgery correction procedures done? I wrote an email to opticalexpress, but never received an answer.

Thanks alot

You really need to go and get an initial consultation. Perhaps it would be possible to get one eye fixed at least as you only had the surgery in one eye? Better vision in one eye would give you overall better vision. Why is poor eyesight ruining your life though? I have poor eyesight and it doesn’t ruin mine. Is there a problem with your wearing contact lenses? What is it you can’t do that you would like to do ? With contacts I can do anything I want to apart from perhaps become an airline pilot and that isn’t possible if you have surgery either.
