Why not take the dog to the vet? Any online “vet” cannot diagnose a dog they cannot see.

Question by white rose: What’s wrong with my hamster’s eye?
I have 1.5 year old Syrian hamster, and recently I’ve realized one of his eyes has changed color, I mean it’s turned silver or something like cataract, like what old people get in their eyes, is he gone blind? What can I do? he seems perfectly fine and doesn’t bump into things or anything…has anyone experienced the same with their hamsters?

My hamster got this and then it went gunky and so I got a warm piece of tissue and bathed his eye and it got better for a little while then came back and then went again :S I still think it should probably see a vet though if it hasn’t gone gunky.

Question by Lauren: What’s wrong with my cat’s eye?
My cat, Louie is less than a year old. He is strictly an indoor cat. Yesterday he seemed fine. Last night, he held his right eye closed partially and now it is clouded over. If you look at him, his right eye is perfectly well and healthy, but his left pupil is light and cloudy. Same with his iris. He seems less active and he seems like he can’t focus. When we talk to him, he moves his head this way and that as if trying to focus. Can cats get cataracts this young and this quickly? Please help! Thanks.

Question by missy: What’s wrong with my dogs eyes?
My 9 year old chihuahua (going to be 10 in about a month) was just recently diagnosed with diabetes. He’s a little over-weight by about 5 or 6 pounds. We’re been giving him vetsulin (doggy insulin) for the past week and a half now. We caught the diabetes early cause we noticed that he was drinking water like crazy! And he was Urinating like crazy too, even in the house, which is very unlike him. So I’d say he acquired diabetes about week and a half ago or 2 weeks ago or so, well that’s when we started noticing his weird drinking/urinating habits. Anyway, he now seems to be having a problem with his eyes. I have been doing some research and I know that dogs with diabetes are more likely to go blind or get cataracts or glaucoma. I’m just wondering if anything out there has/had a dog with diabetes, and even with the treatment, the dog became blind or had alot of eye problems soon after and what did you do or can you do to treat it. (Of course, I’m still going to ask the vet at his next visit.) Thank you in advance.
I forgot to mention that he usually keeps his eyes half open and half closed. Today he was scratching them a little and he sometimes has a little fimly liquid over them, but not alot.
and I meant we’ve not we’re in the upper paragraph.

How long has his eye been like this? I am a vet tech and I am familiar with doggy diabetes. I love this site http://www.caninediabetes.org/! it has EVERYTHING you could need to know. Keeping his eye half opened makes me think that he has a scratch either on his eye or in the interior. This is not a big deal, usually some antibiotic eye drops or lube a few days will cure this. They can get eye scratches by running through grass.

Question by p: WHATS the LEAST WORSE IN DOGS an eye ulcer, glaucoma,or cataracts??
Best answer:
Answer by casw1
I would guess cataracts would be the least worst simply because it causes no pain. My 12 year old german shepherd has cataracts, but he still sees very good. I was eating sunflower seeds earlier today and threw one into the air for him and he caught it no problem. Unfortunately, finding a veterinarian who performs cataract surgery is too costly and too far away from where we live to be an option for him.
