Question by Tammy: My father is 63yrs, he has cataract in both eyes. he don’t qualify for medicare. Is there anything to help?
my father is 63yrs old and he don’t qualify for medicaid or medicare. Is there any financial help for my father to have his cataract surgery?
Best answer:
Answer by Judy B Too bad you live in the USA, the only developed country in the world without public health care or public health insurance. In any other county his surgery would be covered at no cost to him.
He will have to take out a loan, mortgage his house, borrow from relatives, get a second job or live with the blurred vision.

Question by aaron_goodman15: There is something wrong with my dog’s eye…?

pictures.
My dog is about age 14 and is a cocker spaniel.
Both of his eyes have turned a hazy gray color (i think it’s cataract).
But, today, around and on his right eye there was this meukas/puss looking stuff covering his eye, on the outside and inside, all over it.
I wiped it off.
Does anyone know what this might be?
Note I can not take him to a vet.
Nothing serious has happened to him, but he is getting old and can no longer hold his bladder in, can hardly jump, and has bad hearing, and runs into things every now and then =\.

Answer by jayz_tier02 Well of course best is to the vet but it could be dry eye or something more severe. at least keep it clean and warm compress until you can take to the vet

Question by JamesC: Is there a Web Site(s) that I can ask an ACTUAL human eye Doctor specific questions for free, and response?
No cataracts. Wear prescription glasses.
Have, for many years (what I’ve named)”Black Dot Floaters”…..
I can roll my eyes and get the “DOT” to get out of my main-line-of-vision for a while. “Dot”, is not consistant……..”Floats” to other areas of my eyes, then “Floats” back…..then I have to roll my eyes again to ‘clear’.
Is there a SAFE procedure to clear without having to go through ‘lens replacement’ and/or Lasik?
Best answer:
Answer by jmason024 You should ask a doctor. There are occasionally some on this site giving answers. I don’t know any specific sites. I also don’t think any doctor would diagnose or suggest treatment for you without first physically examining you.
That said I have a floater too. The floater actually does not move in my field of vision. It appears to move when my eyes move, and when I look to the right it is under my eyelid and cannot see it. My doctor told me that floaters are like a hardened bubble inside the eye, and if they move in the eye it would be imperceptible. He also said that there is no way to treat a floater.
I hope my experience helps as it relates to yours, but you should see a doctor in person not just to seek a solution, but also to make sure you are asking about the right problem.

Question by lorac: is there anyone out there who has a rippled retina caused by shingles?
I had cataract surgery, and developed double vision in the left eye, I was told that it was probally caused by having the shingles about 8 years ago. OR was it the surgery
Best answer:
Answer by ky_silverstar_79 I know that shingles is a secondary manifestation of the chicken pox virus, but thought you only had those lesions on skin (the skin nearest the nerve where the virus was previously dormant). However according to this website,
Shingles patients are infectious (resulting in chickenpox), both from virus in the lesions and in some instances the nose and throat.
Shingles is more common and more severe in patients with poor immunity. Blisters can occur in more than one area and the virus may affect internal organs, including the gastrointestinal tract, the lungs and the brain.
Since it can affect the internal organs also, I’m sure if can affect your eyes. I wish you the best!

Question by Hondaluv: There is a small black spot I see out of my left eye occasionally…?
Is this serious? Should I get it looked at. There is a family trait of Cataract
Best answer:
Answer by SuperVibrationalEscrow It is a floater and is inside your eye, not on the surface like a cataract. Everybody gets them eventually. Some sooner than others, especially fair skinned people and those who are near sighted. No need to worry
