Question by Alo: I can’t tell if I have a retinal tear. I am a 20 yr old male and I just had phakic IOL done last Thursday.
When I look down and have something close to my face I notice a very small shadow and can see my eye focusing on the left side of my left eye. I can barely notice this but I want to ask you if this could be signs of a retinal tear. Btw, I am very nearsided and my doctor just performed phakic IOL (cataracts surgery). What do you think?

I think only an ophthalmologist can answer your question… but most retinal tears and detachments are very painful.

Question by Love Machine: When should I tell the OD?
When should I tell the optometrist that I am currently no longer a patient of her practice?
I like her but the ophthalmologist drives me nuts.

I am taking my mom to see the optometrist tomorrow for eye measurements before CATARACT surgery.

When should I tell the optometrist that I am no longer a patient in her office?

She knows me, my family and that’s why I am hesitant.
Two weeks ago, I gave her, the optometrist, a children’s book for her and her young kids.
She wrote a thank you card and mailed it.
She and her kids really loved the book.
She signed the card without her title of Dr.
What should I say to her?

If she doesn’t ask, do tell! If she does, just say you wanted to try another one out.

Question by afan1: can someone tell me whats wrong with my dogs eye!!! please?
my dog has a cloudy spot on her eye and i think its either glaucoma, a cataract or collie eye anomaly which is common in her breed. please tell me what you think may be happening or if you know any good sites where i can ask a vet online for free

Why not take the dog to the vet? Any online “vet” cannot diagnose a dog they cannot see.

it could be cataracts. you should see your ophthalmologist for proper diagnosis as soon as possible before the problem gets worse.

Question by Susie: My brother has an eye condition, anyone can tell me what it is?
When my brother was little, he was normal. But once he turned 4, his lef eye starts turning a little bit to the left. He also has a cloud over that eye but is not cataracts. His retina is also a little “eaten up” but he went through three surgeries but after that we never really found out what it is. Supposedly is some rare condition which only 2 people including him had it in Puerto Rico. Can someone please help me Research and find out what it is?

Best answer:

Answer by Spectacle
Without knowing what it is, if it is that rare, there is most likely no info on it. See if you can contact his medical records from where he was seen.
