Question by gasquet87: Does your tears taste sweet if you have diabetes?
I’m asking because I read that a diabetic person produces sorbitol (a type of sugar) in their system which is collected in the eyes and eventually turns into a cataract which leads to vision problems/blindness? So if they cry, does their tears taste sweet since there is existence of sorbitol??? I read that someone who got cataract surgery due to diabetes got their eye eaten by ants who was attracted to sugar.

Question by Jocelyn: I think I may have a cataract…on the verge of tears again…?
I’m only fifteen and i probably have a cataract because there is a white cloudy figure over my right pupil and my right eye vision is blurry. i don’t want to get surgery because i don’t have insurance and can’t afford it and i’m a little scared to get surgery on my eyeball. im sooooo scared right now. i just spent an hour crying because i will probably go blind. i did some research on it cataracts and its supposed to be the #1 cause of blindness worldwide. im so scared i will go blind. i am only 15, why is this happening to me? i’d rather be dead than blind. im soo scareddddd. i am on the verge of another panic attack. will i go blind soon or will that happen alot later on??? because my family can’t afford a 00-5000 surgery right now but i’m hoping that surgery won’t be too late in a few years because i will need time to save up the money. im so scared. somebody please help me beforei have a heart attack.

Calm down. Please. Normally cataracts grow pretty slowly. I am thinking your parents could get some finiancial aid to help it the cost of the surgery. I did on mine. I did not have insurance either. I have had removal on both eyes. Does not hurt at all. You will be put to sleep. I don’t think I had any pain. Have your parents talk to someone about finaiancial aid. Ask at your doctor’s office–maybe they can let you talk to someone (social worker) about the cost of the surgery. There are ways–if you can just stay calm and think and ask questions. Good Luck , Sweety

My 81 year old grandmother went to see a doctor to have her cataracts remove. The doctor noticed she had excessive tearing of the eyes and said he won’t operate to remove her cataracts unless she has dacryocystorhinostomy done with another doctor. Is this totally necessary? Can anybody with a medical background or expertise please help me with this. Thank you.

the vet gave me some “neo-poly-bac hydro” cream but it doesn’t seem to be doing anything. He also gave me some eye drops that appear to be doing a little bit but not much. My question is what else can i do about this ? He doesn’t think it’s that big a deal but it clogs his eyes up so bad ,he can’t even see. I have to take a q-tip and scoop it out once in a while. This problem just started out of the blue, I thought it was an infection. I know many will say, take him to another vet and I probably will, but I was curious if anyone else has seen this condition? To me it looks almost like cataracts once its full of that goo substance
