Question by tamdengonavon: My 5 month old chihuahua has been sick with parvo. She is still recovering..took her to the vet and gave her ?
3 shots, antibiotics and hi vite supplement. The day after her injections her left eye started getting cloudy and the next day her right eye was the same way. What could have changed her eyes from brown to grey? Looks like cataracts.

I really think you need to contact your Vet ASAP and find out what’s going on with your puppy.

Ok, first of all the cataract did not come from being hit by a car. I hope you took him to the vets when that happened. What are the signs of a cataract? It has nothing to do with being hit by a car, or age. Actually, I think in dogs the pupil (black part of the eye) will be gray or bluish in color. The surgery cost will depend on the vet and how much he charges. You should call around to your local vets and find out how much they charge. You may have to take him to a specialist for that surgery possibly at a veterinary college. Also, make sure the price they give you is the total cost of the surgery and not just the surgery alone with everything else added on to it like room and board, anesthesia, food, medications etc.

I had a vet screw me like that once. He told me the surgery for my cat would be $ 100. Well when I went to pick up the cat they handed me a bill for almost $ 400! Yes, the surgery was only $ 100, but it didn’t include everything else like food, medications etc. Needless to say, I never went back, even though I had been going there since they opened up for business. In fact, he screwed so many customers that he almost went out of business.

possibly…depends on how bad it is & where it is on your cornea (if there’s a clear zone or not)

Question by grable: Had cataract surgery over 2 months now on left eye i still have blurred vision Also had abrasion to clear up s?
My operations atarated 2 months ago. thought i would be able to see better.but no change. Now left eye weeker than right. an abraision was discovered and ha 2 weeks od hell.I never had abraision before dr said surgery went well. I think the abraision was casused by he the surgeon course he would not admitt,Meds got rid of it had been going back once a week then 2 weeks so on. Today he wrote perscription out for glasses send on my way see you in 4 months,Looking for second opinion have any ideas or dr. in mind.Thank you for reading

Best answer:

Answer by Indiana Jones
it can take up to 3 months to see the full affect of surgery. your dr has determined that your vision is as corrected as it will get so he prescribed you glasses. the surgery was not guaranteed to provide you will perfect vision.
the abrasion was not your surgeon’s fault it is quite common for the cornea to be scratched during surgery. i wouldn’t worry about that cuz it is now healed.

i don’t know where you live or how far you are willing to travel so i can’t recommend another dr. but be sure to get a second opinion if it would make you feel better.
