Question by alexa_896: Astigmatism to right eye, blind in left, wearing contact lense that making crossed eyed, need advice?
I have an astigmatism to my right eye. My left eye is completley blind d/t a inoperable cataract.

I wear glasses with balanced lenses just to even out that thickness of the lenses. When I wear my glasses it looks as if I am not looking at you with my left eye (as if I had a lazy eye) but my vision is fine on the right. Occassionally, I will wear a contact lense in my right eye (like for a formal event).

I recently had my eyes checked and my prescription was adjusted. I notice that when I wear my contact lense that my left eye looks a bit crossed then eventually does go crossed eyed when I’m wearing it for a while. Even though I don’t wear my contact very often, when I do wear it I get somewhat of a headache after wearing it all day.

Is my eyes trying to get used tot he contact lense every time I wear it since I don’t wear it often? Or should I get rechecked for the lense prescription/shape of the lense?
just wanted to add, that my lense is a toric lense for astigmastism. Could this be a factor to the crossed eyeness?

Contacts do not always work on astigmatisms, I could not wear one, tried all kinds. I eventually got lasik surgery, now I love it.

Question by нαηηαн ♥ღ: Why is my right eye sensitive to light & a t.v & computer screen?
My eye automatically squints when it faces light? but my left eyes fine.. also a bit of my vision is blurry in that eye aswell, does this sound like cataract eye?? why is it sensitive to light?

It has something to do with your retina most likely. Because the retina is where light bounce off of to produce an image. Go to your eye doctor. You might have something going on.

Question by Mike: CATARACT SURGERY QUESTION: I’m in my 40’s and have ignored a cataract in my right eye for 4 years…….(more)?
Obviously, not the wisest move. It is so bad now that the doctor said it is the worst he’s seen except in third-world countries. Lovely, eh?
I work FT but didn’t buy in to med insurance (long story)..He (doc) says I need an A-scan, B-sca,. blue-dye and it’s written as “complex surgery.”
Soes anyone know what these scans are (specifically) and what the blue fye note implivates?

I’m petrified but have no choice b/c all I can see is light out of my eye.

The doctor said he can’t see IN my pupil which I suppose, is a reason for one of the scans??

You have a mature cataract. When cataracts are very advanced, they become white. When you look in the mirror, you may notice that your pupil, (the “black” part of the eye) looks white.

The A-scan is to measure the length of your eye, to determine the correct lens implant to place in your eye. (Without a lens implant, you will not be able to see without thick glasses.) The B-scan is to determine if your retina is still attached. The doctor can not see into your eye to ensure that your eye is still healthy. Like a dirty window, if you can not see out, the doctor can not see in.

The blue-dye is used to stain the anterior capsule of the lens, to allow the doctor to remove the cataract. Otherwise, the whiteness of the cataract would obscure the surgical view, and the capsule could not be opened carefully to allow lens removal.

Yes. Cataract surgery is a relatively safe eye procedure and you should get it fixed before it gets worse
