Question by gta: Cataract removal surgery choices?
Please, I read that cataract removal involves the doctor removing the lens from the eye with a knife;.
I don’t want to watch the tip of a knife approaching my eye.
Is there an alternative method involving amesthesia?
Thx!
I wanna be sleeping…

You can’t be sleeping, it is done on an outpatient basis. No one is put to sleep for cataract surgery.
The front of the eye is numbed with drops ,and your brain is numbed with a valium so you don’t feel a thing, and you never see a scalpel approaching either. The incision is so small you never know it happened.

Consult your doctor.
It doesn’t sound like a necessity. There is no blood involved in cataract removal. It’s done by laser, takes a very short time, no anesthetic, no pain.

Question by sarava: what to expect from cataract removal?
Best answer:
Answer by Pinky
You can expect to see so much better. This is a relatively easy procedure. You are sedated so that you will doze through it all. You will have a patch on your eye for about 24 hours, and will need to use drops for several weeks both before and after the procedure. For the first several days, you may have blurry vision, but you will be amazed how quickly you will be able to see again. There is no discomfort. Go for it.
