Question by Susan: Cataracts at 59 yrs old after corneal erosion problem?
1 year ago had corneal erosion in left eye, cause unknown, treated with steroids for eye by opthamologist. since then eyesight got real bad. re-examined by opthamologist, said need surgery for cataracts in affected eye-likely caused by steroid treatment. right eye has gone from near sighted to far sighted and affected eye just hard to see out of- with any glasses or correction. (also, i tested negative for diabetes). since both eyes seem to have something changing, wondering if it could be anything but cataracts causing problems and changes and should i get a 2nd opinion before surgery. no insurance so all out of pocket.

Question by Gypsy: eye problem in a dog?
The dog’s eye first appeared cloudy, and overtime it swelled into a blue bubble ( a cataract maybe). It was left like this for a year and hardened to a solid form slightly bigger than the normal eye. A few days ago the eye seemed like a half-way deflated ball (when touched). It has its shape and the affected eye is now the size of the normal eye, however it is soft to the touch and no longer solid. The swelling is gone and it is now leaking fluid. Is the eye in fact popped? Is there anything that can be done or should the eye be removed? How much will this type of procedure cost?
I know these are questions for the vet, but this is not my dog. I was just wondering how I could help or what information I could get.

Question by jay2daray: what might be his eye problem?
My grandfather has had perfect vision all his life, thought other probs (stinosis of the spine, diabetes) however went to bed, and woke up today blind in his right eye, he can see outta the “corners” of his eye but not straight, anyone that has any clue on what this may be, id appreciate the responses, he thinks its a cataract but a cataract is a blur (cloud), also he just told me (i tested it) he cant see directly in front but if u move your hands about 1 inch to the side he can see it
