And I am suppose to be researching some info for her, but I can’t get in contact with her. It starts with a K, I believe, and she is losing her sight in her left eye. She has to wear very strong contacts and glasses. Anyone know what this is? And it’s not cataracts. Thanks for your help!
Thankyou everyone. I believe it is Keratoconus. I really appreciate this…I am trying to find info on a cure. I am very worried about her. ((hugz))

Mother had medicaid and was diagnosed with diabetes. The lady in charge of the medicaid cut her off knowing she was depended on insulin. It’s been over a year since she’s taken insulin and she recently started having vision problems. She went to the eye doctor and he told her she has cataracts forming in both her eyes and her health is failing. She recently lost her job because her vision and health have caused her problems. Should I contact a lawyer?

Im 17 years old and i ahve a one year old daughter that was creatated by force, well, she ws born with a condition called Congenital cataracts than made her blind, because of my age and the fact that she had a prexsisting condition getting medical isuance i could pay for with a low income is nearly impossible. i had to put her on my parents. and im still struggleing to figure out what im going to do. Well, she had surgery and now wears contact lenses that cost 160 dollars for one of them and im struggleing, working to pay for them and going to school and being a mother. well..

So my mother is in navada working for the Obama compaign. and
i told her that if she at any chance gets to speak with him to him, tell him that i am a teenage mother struggleing to provide medical and health insurance for my daughter and that im counting on him. well, by chance, she did get a chance to speak to him. He was walking by all the people and she was in the front row. she reached out and took him by hand, he turn ahd shoke her hand and she said she told him what i said and how im counting on him and he said excatly this……

“Tell you daughter I am going to do everything I can to help your daughter provide health care for her daughter and she can count on me i promise.”

AND WHEN HE SAID IT MY MOTHER SAID HE LOOKED DIRECTLY INTO HER EYES AND SHE GOT GOOSE BUMPS BECAUSE OF HOW SERIOUS HE WAS.
she just told me…HOW COOL IS THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

to the person who brought up abortions…

first off…im a democrat. you cant label them saying they are ALL for abortions because they arent.. thats like me saying ALL republican are oil hogs. but they arent
and on top of that, it doesnt matter what he thinks about that because its a state issues. he cant make it illegal.
And ….just whats better, haveing it legal so those girls who refuse do have it have a place that is clean and professional, or a back bedroom with a hanger and a bottle of pain killers? because let me tell you…makeing it illegal doesnt make it go away, it just makes it dangerous. She is a healthy 75 year old with no history of medical problems, she goes in for surgery and the first eye winds up getting a scratch that had to be treated and now the second eye is painful and after watching it for a few days the Dr. says she has eye shingles, is this something that occurs a lot, she has had the shingles vaccine and the Dr. said that it works better on the body than the eye, this all sounds a little weird and this procedure was something she was dreading and now she is dealing with the aftermath, just wondering how common these issues are and what did others do to deal with it. thanks

Sorry to hear about your mother. Cataract surgery is generally well tolerated and adverse reactions occur in less than 1.5% of procedures. Shingles is the reactivation of the varicella virus which causes chicken pox. After we get chicken pox, the virus lives in nerve cells. The virus can become active again in a specific distribution causing a rash and pain known as shingles. This can occur in any location on the body, including the eye and surrounding skin. When shingles affects the eyes it is known as Herpes zoster ophthalmicus and this is one of the most serious types of shingles, because it could potentially lead to blindness without treatment. It is unrelated to the surgery. The shingles vaccine reduces the chance of getting shingles, but it does not completely eliminate it. Unfortunately it did not in your mother’s case. The shingles vaccine reduces the chance of shingles developing anywhere. I have never heard that the zoster vaccine is less effective in preventing shingles involving the eye and I am familiar with most of the studies about this. Perhaps her doctor knows something I don’t. Anyways, no this is not a normal post-operative course and sorry that your mother has gone through all of this.

IF YOU CAN’T GET FINANCIAL AID TRY AND SEE IF THEY WOULD LET YOU MAKE PAYMENTS. DOES SHE HAVE MEDICARE IF SHE DOES MAYBE THEY WOULD HELP. GOOD LUCK.

my mom suddenly started complaining (an hour ago) of blurry vision from her left eye, mild headache, and an inability to discern between two colors. She also claims that she can’t see anything that’s not directly in front of her eye; she has no peripheral vision.

she seems to have some symptoms of a cataract, but i may be wrong.
actually, i HOPE i’m wrong, because cataracts are BAAAD NEWS.
if it’s not, what could possibly be wrong with her?!?!?!??!?! AHHHH.

Please encourage you mom to see an ophthalmologist. Her symptoms do not sound like a cataract at all. They sound much more like Optic Neuritis (sometimes linked to ms) or an ocular migraine. Both symptoms (as well as a cataract) are treatable adn nothing to panic about. But they are certainly serious enough to see a doctor about.

while her Right eye vision is perfect she can’t See thing with her left eye. It was operated after the right eye. the doctor says that she will be able to see with the SUPPORT of the first eye. if both the eyes are operated upon separately then shouldn’t she be able to see with both her eyes independently?
