Question by Mommy to a Little Bug: if you have had a mini dachshund, how old did he or she live to be?
or if you still have them, please share ages. =]
i don’t want this to be a morbid question, i’m just curious because i have read that they are capable of living to be 18 years old. i would like to know if it’s true.

also, just to sneak one more question in, my 7 year old long haired mini dachshund has had a sort of film over her eye (cataracts?) and the vet has never mentioned it. i assumed it was because of aging. does it mean she is going to lose her sight? can she see just fine right now? another thing i have been terrified to ask about until now.

It would probably live 14-16 years . . . . .depending on how you take care of it, of course.

Question by FF GURU: How long did your Bichon Frise live?
My Bichon turns 15 this October. He has no teeth, a torn ACL, skin iritation issues/allergies, and cataracts/other eye problems. He is nearly blind. But he is actually pretty darn healthy. Every year we have an incedent where we think he’s on his last leg (metaphorically speaking), and he bounced back like a puppy. I’m wondering how long other people’s Bichon’s lived for.

request gimpster8466 : I need cataract surgery, I watch 43 who work full time, live in PA? Does anyone know of programs to assist with the costs? best answer:

answer from Carin
Sart calls to social services departments (probably the state). Or if you are OEMs, Virginia. This may be the fastest way to find answers. I am writing you from across the U.S., but this will be my plan here!
