Question by daria: Hi, i really need to know where is the best place to go to for eye surgery?
My 9 year old daughter got arthritis. It has severely affected her right eye to the point where she has a massive cataract, everything is glued together and she has recurring inflammation all the time. Her case is very complicated and here in Greece they said they don’t have the expertise to take this case on properly. I have options to go to Russia, where i heard they were the best eye specialists in the world and i have also been referred to Moorfields Eye Hospital in London ( also good reputation). Money is not a problem for me and i can go anywhere in the world but i need to know who is the best and where they are. Everyone i contact say they are it. I am, though, looking for some sort of consensus on this matter. My daughter cannot see anymore from her right eye ( just barely can sense light). Please help. I am at a loss.

I would recommend traveling to the United States. Here, we have great hospitals, which some, are the best in the world. The Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, USA is the best in the world, so I would recommend calling them.

Good luck!

Question by lex: Does anyone know anything about the ReStor lens?
My dad has Cataracts in his eyes and needs surgery. His doctor told him about this new thing called the ReStor lens where they replace the lens in your eye with a flexible lens (I think that’s what happens). The doctor said she doesn’t recommened it because it is very new, but said she knows many people who love it. Any one have it or know anything about it? What do you think is best for my dad to do?

go here www.acrysofrestor.com usually cataract surgery is very very easy it only take an ophthalmologist 45 min. per eye usually one day one eye and few days or weeks later the other.
and patients use only reading glasses, then that IOL(intra ocular lens) will get hazy after few years and what they do is a laser treatment to clean that lens and finish. so if the ReStor dont have that problem, go for it.

What do you think? Answer below!

Question by mbaman03: Did the mom on 28 Weeks Later know she was a carrier?
It seemed to me that she did know she was infected. In fact, it seemed that she *bit* her husband so he would get infected. When first found by her son in the house, she seemed like she was definitely altered, mentally (grasping and clawing at her son in a painful way) and physically (cataracts in her eyes and a blood clot in her left eye).

So, did she know she was a carrier and meant to spread it, and was her mind altered just by carrying the virus, her experiences of the attacks and survival notwithstanding?

Question by TraceyA: Shi Tzu’s and cataract surgery – anyone have this done and know the cost?
I have a shi tzu (sorry spelling is wrong) and she has really bad clouds in one eye and the other one is getting cloudy too- I was wondering if anyone has ever had to have a Cataract Surgery done on a dog and what they paid their Vet for this Surgery ?
Please let me know if anyone knows this — please no smart remarks, or anything stupid for answers I love this dog and do not want her to loose her sight and do not want to put her down either – she is still young and has plenty of life left in her. She is part of my family, I have her and her brother, they are twins.

By sheer coincidence we in rottie rescue have just taken in a girlie dog with cataracts and we are going to try and raise the money to have them done.

In the UK we have already been in touch with a referral practise via our vet and it is going to be £4000 plus 20% vat for both eyes.

Couldn’t possibly guess what it would be where you are.
