Question by razzzzzle2: I’m having some eye discomfort?
I’m 15, and I’m having some discomfort in my vision, its not all of a sudden its been kinda gradual and has lasted for most of the day. I dont really know if its blurred vision, eye fatigue, or eye strain. I can read just fine and everything looks pretty much normal. Ive been researching on the internet and of course now im getting worried reading about cataracts, glaucoma, and what not. Please help!

Get a good basic eye exam. Should cost anywhere from $ 50 to $ 80, in that range. I had eyestrain up to the age of 20 when I found out that I had hyperopia (farsightedness). No big deal to fix, just glasses or contacts. The eyes were healthy, just a focus problem. Lasik, laser correction is available today for many people.

The simple eye chart on the wall, the kind a school nurse does, is not the way to go. Pay a few bucks and get peace of mind. I got my last exam at the local Costco vision center for $ 49. You are pretty young from cataracts or glaucoma. I suspect just basic myopia or hyperopia, easily fixed with corrective lenses. If you have a family doctor it might be a good to mention the situation. When I started wearing glasses I felt strange at first. But having no headaches and sharp vision is really worth it.

Email me through my “profile” link and let me know how it is going.

Question by bob: Having Eye floaters normal?
I’m 15 and I thought i had a dumb ass special ability to see microrganisms but when i watched a family guy episode they saw what i saw too. I lol’d at first. Then i searched up eye floaters. They said it happens to elder and or middle aged people who have
# have had inflammation inside the eye;
# are nearsighted;
# have undergone cataract surgery;
# have had YAG laser surgery of the eye
I never had any of those. Am i weird?
I do not wear glasses nor do I see black floaters I just see floaters at the age of 15 when supposedly your suppose to see them at middle age and seniors…

These are NOT normal… if your floaters are black, you may just have debris floating in the aqueous humor, but if you see little light specks, you may have something very serious such as a retinal problem. Don’t wait, go get this looked at ASAP.

I know you are very worried about your little baby. Cataract surgery now days is high sophisticated and usually is done very quickly. I think your baby will be fine. You probably need a nerve pill.

You can give your baby Pedialyte (which you can find at the drug store). That is clear and has lots of nutrients.

Good luck honey!

Question by Linda M: I have cataracts, but the doctor didn’t say anything about surgery. Having a hard time seeing in the sunlight.?
surgery., wear sunglasses most of the time. what do i do next?

Answer by oldknowitall
If your doctor did not recommend surgery, see another eye specialist that does cataracts. It may be that your doc does not do them. Or maybe they are not bad enough yet. But if you are having difficulty seeing, ask for a second opinion. My hubby has had cataracts removed from both eyes and is sooooooo much better! I have a small one that is not big enough to remove yet.

Question by ~~Birdy~~: Is it normal to see glare after having cataract surgery?
My mother had cataracts in both eyes. She had surgery on one of the eyes on October 6th. It is now October 24, and she sees a glare when she looks at lights that she started noticing a couple days after the surgery. She describes it as a line of glare from left to right. If she looks at tail lights at night she sees red glare. Her vision in both eyes was 20/20. She still has to have surgery in the other eye.

She called the doctor and she went back for an appointment and they said her eye probably hasn’t adjusted yet. She is concerned because it doesn’t sound right.

Is this normal?

It can take several months for your vision to reach the best it can be, after cataract surgery.
