Question by Renard: Please help eye doctor can’t find anything wrong with my eye?
I have been seeing double for the last 2 years and the doubling of my vision only happens in dim light and never in a well lit area. It can also appear as triple or multiple vision in both of my eyes (But again only in dim lights or when there’s a light object with a dark backround). Also i have been seeing halos and glares but i didn’t know when they started. One last thing is that my vision is cloudy when i’m looking at a light source and the cloudiness moves along the light source as i move my eyes. I have been to the eye doctor twice and found nothing wrong with my eyes. Everything else is ok with my eye. I have 20/20 vision and no other health problems. And i don’t stress my eyes out and also i get enough sleep. Can anyone please tell me what might be causing my vision problems and the doctor said it can’t be cataracts. I’m only 15.
I am not stoned or hallucinating. Please help. No one else can help me =(
Please help..your answer might save my life!

Double vision at nighttime but normal vision during daylight?

Well if your eyes aren’t able to point in the right direction then it can be ONE of the causes of double vision.

When you walk at night do you feel less relaxed than at daytime? its a good idea to ensure you dont alarm yourself unnecessarily. So if you know your eyes can turn and move effortless (without any difficulty) then that might rule out eye muscle issues. At nighttime pepole usually use their peripheral vision more because the central part of vision is less effective in dimly lit surroundings Do you have issues with everything appearing too dark? Do you think everything appears darker than for others? that might be worth asking about.

The cloudiness of vision sounded strange. If you are researching it try focusing on that as well as the double vision aspect.

Nowadays websites are very clever and can help diagnose many conditions. (But obviously talking to someone face to face will always be more effective.)
You can try putting in your symptoms and see if any results are worth investigating:

Also dont restrict yourself to the opinion of one professional. Try to find someone who may be able to give an alternative diagnosis. This is because you cant expect just one person to be able to diagnose ALL medical problems out there.

Question by fryegirl: Where can I find a hospital / Doctor / Surgeon / Who will do probono or reduced fee cataract surgery?
My step father is on MediCal. He is almost 80 years old and from his behavior you would swear hes still in his 50s.

He can barely see from cataracts, and he is scheduled for surgery in June. He also has astigmatism, but they said they would have to charge him for that as well

Heres the kicker. Medicare only covers “so much” My parents have to put out almost $ 4000 for him just to be able to see.. (not including what they want to charge for the astigmatism)

Is there ANYWHERE that anyone knows of that takes care of seniors that need surgery? Im in california.. and I want to be able to save them the money..

Thanks for any and all advice.

Consult your fathers optometrist about medical schools that use patients for training tools. Many schools will take in patients who cannot pay for the opportunity for their doctors to get practice in their field.

Question by sa: Unable to find what is wrong with my mother’s eye.?
My mother cannot see out of the left side of her left eye. She had an eye examination and was sent to a specialist. The specialist did a lot of tests including looking behind her eyes and she had a cat scan done. All the doctors say there is nothing wrong. It is not cataracts she had those removed a few years ago.

Does anyone know what this could possibly be?

It could be a lot of things. She could have a secondary cataract and might need a “YAG” which is a laser treatment to remove it. Did you mom see an optician or an ophthalmologist? If the optician refered her to an ophthalmoligist then that’s normal. If she was refered to a macula specialist or corneal or a retinal specialist that is different. The worst case senario she has some macula or retinal problem and they might need to wait to do something about it. Is she seeing a large amount of black spots or flashes of light? If so, take her to an ophthalmologist as soon as possible, those are signs of retinal detachment.
Ask her doctor to write down on a piece of paper (for you to take home) what they found and go from there.
Good luck

Question by ♥2htoohorse♥: Do you think that medical research will ever find a cure for cataracts?
HI there, so I have a 20 year old appaloosa and he has a cataract in his right eye causing partial blindness. A few months ago the vet came to give him a physical and told us that we could take him to a science research center about 2 hours away to see if they could treat it. This would cost us 4000 dollars, and there would be no garantee if of his vision would come back in the eye. For the time being he is perfectly fine, but my dream is to get him to have full vision like he once had.

I am wondering, do you think they will ever find a special surgery or cure for a cataract?

I know they can do it with dogs and people, and some other animals, why not horses?

Have you heard about any horses regaining vision?

thank you everyone!

Also should i take my horse to the reseach center to do the surgery? do you think he can get his vision back?
the thing is, i dont want his other eye to get a catartact or his already blind eye to get worse, the vet said that he could become fully blind in his right eye and then it can move to the other eye.

I wouldn’t see why not because I know my grandma had surgery on her eyes for cataracts however I don’t this that they can stop it from coming back. I think they can only remove it but it does take a long time for it to come back. Normally and being that he is that old you probably would do ok with that.

Question by Mercy: How can I find people to help fund 10 year old Reagan’s medical care?
This child got a traumatic cataract following perfoating a corneoscleral injury.
We do not know the state of the retina but we want to give him a chance.
1. He will need cataract surgery with an intra ocular lens = 35,000 /=
2. If the retina is found detached , he will need to be referred to mengo for further retinal detachment surgery approximately 100,000/=
3. Post operatively , he will come for a review for a minimum of foru times but each visit , the medications do not exceed 10,000 /= U sh.
4 . When he has recovered , he will need spectacle correction for any refractive errors at a cost of about 100,000/=(bifocal) .

These are the expected hospital costs.
If they opt to sleep in a private room , this at rate of 10,000/= per night.
At each surgery, they may stay for 4 days.
Other costs I am not sure of are transport costs and personal maintainnce for the child and attendant while in hospital.

Best regards,

Dr . Tindyebwa. L.K

Have you tried contacting your local newspapers? They may be willing to run an add asking for donations.
