Question by BombDude24: Will my dead eye ever seal up?
I was born with cataracts, after several surgery attempts (around 2-3 years old, some 15 years back), my eye became ‘dead’. I understand that due to the lack of function, my blind eye will never grow larger, and I am curious it will ever seal up, as in the skin will cover where my eye was. I know this is possible, and if so, if there is a way to prevent this from happening, I’d love to know.
That doesn’t really answer my question, and I don’t think that blindness is a very funny subject. Really, I don’t expect anyone to be in the same situation, but at least attempting to answer the question would be fantastic.

Question by Lyndee: Has anyone ever heard of this?
I had laser surgery last week on my left eye called YAG Laser Surgery to remove the film build up on my new lens placed in my eye after cataract surgery. I went to my eye surgeon as a follow up appointment today. After a thorough examination and based also on what I told him, the doctor told me that there is a lot of inflammation in my eye. He told me that I have arthritis in my eye! He gave me Prednisone (an anti-inflammatory drug) to put in my eye 4 times a day. I am scheduled to go back to my eye surgeon on the 8th of November.
Has anyone ever had this problem before or has heard of it? How common is it to have arthritis in an eye? What kind of arthritis can get into an eye? I was completely speechless when he told me about this! I tried to look it up, but to no avail. Can anyone help me? Serious answers only please. Thank you.
The doctor gave me drops to put in my eye 4 times a day and yes they are Prednisone drops. Prednisone is a steroid but it can be used as a anti-inflammatory agent too. And yes the doctor told me I do indeed have arthritis in my eye. I just found out from the doctor’s office 5 minutes ago that I have rheumatoid arthritis in my left eye.

I assume you are talking about corneal ulcers. One of my chihuahuas has been getting them for about 3 yr and they are coming more frequent all the time. Never had to have surgery for them. The vet gives us some drops, we use them a couple of days and the eyes clear up. If we have drops already at the house, we just use those drops. Onl;y have to take her to the vet about twice a year just to get new drops. Never I say again did we ever have to have surgery. The eye looks bluish and the light bothers her. That is when we know that it is the ulcers again. Like I said she has been having these for a few years and hasn’t gone blind yet. I do know you need to take them to the vet once they start looking blue or they can go blind.
BTW, I have had corneal transplants in both eyes and also the cataract surgeries. The corneal transplants have done great, but had trouble with one cataract surgery and now have little vision in my left eye.

Question by majnun99: Any one ever hear of somebody getting cataracts from Seroquel?
I starting taking seroquel as part of an research study; they got people with Major Depression and they’re trying out Seroquel as a medicaition (it’s usually used for Bipolar or Schizophrenia). They mentioned cataracts as a possible side effect. The doctor with the study said it’s not likely because the cataracts happened only with dogs who given seroquel and not people. Now my eye doctor says I’m getting cataracts, I have been in the Seroquel study for eight months. I’m going to be 50 this month, isn’t that a little young to have cataracts?

Question by Zelda Hunter: Have you ever met someone who naturally had one blue eye and one brown one?
No contacts, blindness, eye damage or cataracts. My biology teacher in high school had this, and it was months before I realized it. I was curious about how rare this is.
