Question by kashiwokaeru: Infection in eye from contacts?
Recently, and periodically, my left eye has been super sensitive to my contact lens whenever I put it on. After a few hours, even minutes… the top part of my eye starts to feel some kind of bulge at the top… and then my contact gets blurry really fast. I went to the fitter about it before, but he said it was because of the weight of the contact lens on the bottom… but this ‘infection’ occurs at the top, so I’m not really sure. Can someone help me out? I really hate having to take out my contacts after tearing up over a long day… my eye also gets lazy and red too.
When I take off the lens, I look closely at my eye… it looks more cloudy or just blurred than the right eye (which is all clear). I hope it’s not a cataract or anything serious :S

It could be a number of things. You may be allergic to the contact lens material or the the contact lens solution. Or it could be some sort of keratitis.
Either way, you need to get your eyes examined to find out what the cause it. It might be worth getting a second opinion from another optician as it is unlikely that the weight of the lenses would cause such problems

Question by Abby(:: Can I Wear Contacts After I Had Eye Muscle Surgery?
A couple of months ago (On June 5th) I had eye muscle surgery on my left eye. It used to cross in. I asked my ophthalmologist if I could start wearing a contact lens on [only] my right eye (because I’m blind on my left eye). So I’m wondering if I can start wearing contacts.
And also for further more information: I’m 15 years old, I have a white cataract on my left eye, and my ophthalmologist said that I cannot wear my colored contact lens (personally only for my left eye) until my eye is fully healed. For further more information please let me know.
Thank you in advance
And by the way if there’s any ophthalmologist or any professional doctor that knows about this stuff that can help me with this, can you please let me know? I can’t call my ophthalmologist just to ask a question. =/
Again, thank you very much

Question by fodder: Can people with cataracts get contacts?
(Cataracts are tiny scars in your eye)

Answer by Paul MB
The eye has two refractive surfaces, the cornea, and the lens. When the lens gets foggy, even a little bit, that’s called a cataract. It makes is so light has problems getting through the lens so that it won’t focus correctly on the retina.
If you have a dirty windshield, blurry view. Cataract….blurry view. Putting contacts or glasses or telescopes or microscopes or prisms, or ? or eating carrots or taking pills or doing eye exercises….won’t make that lens clear again, no matter what the guys who want you to buy their miracle eye cures say. It’s a foggy lens!
Sure you can wear contacts. Won’t see any better.

I had cataract surgery 2 years ago. I have near vision. I am like a mole, nearly blind without my distance glasses. I hate not being able to see near and far. I want to wear those new contact lenses that allow you to do that. Anyone know if I can.
