Question by arodriq: Is it possible to be a special agent in the FBI if you are blind in one eye?
I am interested in joining the FBI but as my question states, I have one major setback. I’m curious if I should even begin pursuing a career in this field. I was born with a cataract in my left eye and after having it removed around 6 years ago, the doctors determined that the nerves in my eye did not develop. I am legally blind in that eye but still have some vision. Not much…I can make out objects but cannot see details. I have full peripheral vision, but again, on the left side I cannot make out details. I read that you must have 20/200 vision uncorrected, in both eyes, 20/20 corrected vision in one eye, and 20/40 corrected in the other eye. I have 20/20 corrected vision in my right eye, but somewhere around 20/2000 (I could be wrong about this number…but let’s just say it was a very high number) vision in my other eye. Is there anyway around this? Thanks.

No. You would also be excluded from every law enforcement job in the country that require driving or firearms use. Most require vison in both eyes to be correctable to close to 20/20, 20/40.

You have probably misunderstood. It is impossible to put in implants without first removing the cataract (the cloudy lens). You need to talk to the surgeon again;

Question by Rick46: Anyone had experience with a blind rabbit?
Our 10 year old male bunny is going blind due to cataracts in both eyes. Due to his age and the fact that he has had pasteurella for 4 years, he is not a candidate for surgery. He continues to eat well and responds to our voices. We are wondering if he can still have a quality remainder of his life or if it would be best to put him to sleep.
Cooking him is not an option that we would consider.

Question by leslie: My Golden Retriever is going blind, any advice?
Hi, my beloved Dillon is 14 years old. He’s completely blind in one eye (cataracts) and the other is slowly deteriorating, too. He had 2 cancerous tumors removed in the past 3 years so it was too much to have eye surgery. I know he’s old, but I love him so very much, he is the happiest, most congenial, affectionate dog you’ve ever seen, honestly. He has a nice doggie bed which I put a king sized feather bed on, too, but he loves to lay on the couch. Whenever he wants to get on the couch, he always comes over and asks, I always say, “yes”, but he still wants a confirmation, bless his sweet heart. Do you have any ideas of how I can make him more comfortable? I just love him so very much, and I’m just so sad because I know what’s coming and I can’t deal with it. Thank you for caring:{

You sound just like me. I’d do anything for my dogs. Sounds like you spoil your Golden like I spoil mine. I also have a Jack Russell. My first Golden, I carried him in and out to the very end as he had arthritis and hip dysplasia. Just keep “pampering” your Golden and comforting him like you are doing.
