Question by Eli: what was the importance of cataracts to the ancient egyptians?
i know the cataracts divide the nile but haw did that affect the egyptians?

It actually didn’t affect them overly much. Their trade, which is the main use of the nile, wasn’t affected thanks to how they used their ships. Going down, the ships were designed to take the stress. Going up, they would have large crews and they would tow the ship up each cataract.
