Question by Vanessa: Why does my dog have slimy red eyes?
My dog is a pit bull, and she’s rather old now. She’s about 10 years old. Two days ago i noticed that she had some slime on her eyes, they’re really red, and she can barely see. She’s not blind because she can fallow our movements. I wonder if its cataracts. In addition to that she hasn’t really been eating, we make her drink water but she drools a lot. Plus she doesn’t want to get out of her dog house. Please help we’re not really sure what to do. Thank you all so very much!

Question by Dnt watch dat: Is cataracts and eye squints genetically inherited?
Ok so i was born with cataracts. I have had an exceptional recovery as the doctors say that I’m one of the only few who pass their driving tests after such severe surgery. After my operation, it had resulted in me having a nystagmus and eye squint. I just wanted to know if this was genetic in case I decide to have kids. The doctors say the chances are very low and even if they did, they would have the same recovery rate as me.

That’s a hard question…

You should find out if the CATARACT was genetic, or toxic..(as your mother could have taken medication/drugs while you were being carried) leading to cataracts…

I think your squint (and nygstagmus) is a result of the cataract… so there’s a good chance that you won’t ‘pass these on’

it may not be 20/20. i had both my lenses replaced because of cataracts. i have 20/40 vision. this is way better than what i originally had. everyone reacts differently to lens replacement.
