The only way to get rid of cataracts is to get surgery for the poor dog. If you can’t afford it then be prepared to live with a blind dog.

Question by T: Can the lenses in our eyes expand and contract as our blood sugar rises and falls? What condition is this?
I have type II diabetes. It is well-controlled (A1C = 6.4) My eye doctor tells me I have no retinopathy and I have no macular degeneration. However, I have some double-vision in one of my eyes — primarily halos around lights at night and around some text on computer monitors (and scoreboards at sporting events, that sort of thing). This eye has also had a tiny floater for a couple of years. When my eyes were dialated, my eye doctor told me that she could see the edges of the affected lens were somewhat warped or frayed. She says this happens from expansion and contraction caused by fluctuations in my blood sugar. The explanation seems plausible, but I have not found any sort of clinical description of this condition anywhere online. (Optical lens edema?) The effect is apparently somewhat like having a cataract and the treatment (replacement of the lens) is supposed to be the same as well. But I’m curious if anyone else has this condition or knows a name for it.

It is sometimes called a sugar cataract – a type of cataract that occurs only in diabetics.

Question by winterlotus: Is there a cure for Glaucoma? What can bring relief to such a condition?
Are these glaucoma symptoms?
Sharp pain in the eye/s like being boxed at by someone.
Eyes feel gritty and grainy like something is inside.
Occasional blurr vision relieved by blinking of eyes or using eyedrops.
Rare sudden blackness.
On the first check-up, the Eye Specialist said it might be glaucoma but only prescribed eyedrops.
On the second check-up, he said it is not glaucoma but first stage cataract which does not require surgery as yet. He said to continue using the eyedrops (Refresh Tears) as much as is necessary.
I think I need a second opinon, what do you think?
>>Princeidoc….you wrote “I’m sure the asker was HOPING someone would cut & paste the differences in ODs & MDs from wikipedia…”
Well, excuse me, but I am only hoping someone would answer my question with their own knowledge or experience. I can Wikipedia but I would rather learn from other people’s experiences, knowledge and the like. Thanks for your time anyway.

I would say get a second opinion, you know your body better than anyone else. I do not think there is a cure for glaucoma but some people are allowed to get medical marijuana for it ( which I would not suggest). Hope this helps, & God bless!!

Question by Marlane W: What are the chances of McCain’s invasive melanoma returning while he’s in office?
Recurrences of his very serious melanoma usually happen within 10 years of treatment. McCain was last treated 8 years ago. Treatment is so toxic that he would be incapacitated and unable to function as President if he were to have a recurrence while in office.
He also smoked 2 packs a day for 24 years, has had cataract surgery, received treatment for high cholesterol and high blood pressure, suffers from degenerative arthritis and vertigo.
A petition has been circulated and signed by 2,302 physicians demanding that he release his full medical history. He has not. He gave reporters (only 1 had medical background) 3 hrs. to go through thousands of pages of his medical reports with no cameras, cellphones, etc. allowed.
The US military wouldn’t let a soldier fly a plane without having his or her thorough medical records. Why does our government not insist on all candidates coming clean about their medical conditions???
My source is a New World Video by The Real McCain. Here is the link http://therealmccain.com/doctors/?utm_source=rgemail
It has film clips from licensed physicians, and broadcast journalists such as Dr. Nancy Sniderman
