Question by Elizabeth: What have I done to my eye?!?! Completely red and painful. May be contact-lens related…?
Hi everyone

I’m panicking right now like mad… I woke up this morning with a little red blotch on the inner corner of my eye… It was annoying looking but didn’t hurt at all… However over the course of the day it has gotten so much worse that now my whole eye is bloodshot and it has begun to pain, particularly when I move it…

Some of my friends say I have pink eye, but I am scared it might be something worse. I’m a poor college student and haven’t been taking care of myself… I have monthly contact lenses but I can’t afford to get new ones every month.. so I have been using the same pair since SEPTEMBER, and I often make them last 3 or 4 months at a time… also recently I ran out of contact solution so I’ve been re-using the solution in my lens case thing… at least 3 nights at a time..

Is it the contact lens thing..? Today my friend told me doing this could cause some sort of cataract that will make me go blind… I’m scared this is happening to me..

Or could it just be pink eye?

I have a huge dance rehearsal on Saturday and I need to keep wearing these same contact lenses until at least then.

You don’t have a cataract. Cataracts occur on your lens which is inside your eye. You have to follow the instructions for your contacts and change them accordingly or all kinds of garbage will accumulate in them. If you have pink eye (itchy, red, lots of mucus build-up after you sleep) then you should go to the medical center at the university since it is usually a lot cheaper for students. They can give you eye drops. Otherwise, get new solution at the very least.

If it is pink eye and you can’t go to the medical center, use a warm, clean, moist compress on the affected eye. Make sure it is clean.

Question by Jessica: Am I able to get LASIK if I have an artificial lens implant on my eye?
Whenever I was three years old I had gotten a cataract as a side effect of an infection I had gotten. To fix, correct or remove the cataract I had an artificial lens implant. I’ve had very poor eye sight out of the eye that was operated on ever since. I can only see general shapes and colors and make out objects and recognize people. I’m now twenty years old and would like to look into getting LASIK to try and correct my vison or just improve it. So my question is does anyone know if after having an artificial lens implant am I able to have LASIK.

Question by Amanda S: What is wrong with my cats eye?!?
I noticed that my 3 year old cats eye is looking a little cloudy. I took a closer look and it looks almost like the colored part of her eye is blurry whereas her other eye color looks sharp. also you know how when you look at a animal in the dark their eyes look iridescent? thats how her one eye looks all the time. maybe it is just because i am a little bit of a hypochondriac but she seems out of sorts. Im thinking its a cataract but I am looking online and it is telling me all these crazy scary things, so another opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Take her to the vet, she could have scratched her eye. She may just need antibiotic eye drops.

Well, if you have enough money to start racing, then you should have enough money to get your eye fixed.

Question by yuyi: Does the white on my dog’s pupils, mean that it’s cataracts?
I’ve noticed lately that my dog’s eyes, whenever there is light, it looks that there is white in her pupils.

I know that the same condition occurs on aged people, so, I guess my dog that is 13,5 years old can have cataracts as well?

I will definitely visit the vet asap, I just need your opinion and if you ever faced a similar situation with you dog.

Thanksss :)
It’s not a specific breed… we had found it on the street many years ago and we helped it.
It’s looks like a blue cloudy color, white is a general word for that.
Amon, my dog’s eye looks kinda like this pic:

What breed is your dog?
I think some herding breeds have that and it’s normal.
