Maalox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up with string
These are a few of my favourite things…
Cadillacs and cataracts and hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixident and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favourite things.
When he pipes leak,
When the bones creak,
When my knees go bad
I simply remember my favourite things,
And then I don’t feel so bad…
Hot tea and crumpets, and corn pads to bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heat pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favourite things…
Back pain, confused brain, and no fear of sinnin;
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin’,
And we won’t mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favourite things…
When the joints ache,

To commemorate her 69th birthday on October 1, actress / vocalist, Julie
Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan’s Radio City Music
Hall for the benefit of the AARP.
One of the musical numbers she performed was “My Favorite Things”
from the legendary movie “Sound Of Music”.
Here are the lyrics she used:

Ok, I Am At It Again…but Can Someone Explain This To Me?

I pulled more dogs for rescue from the local high kill rate shelter and I am irrate at people.
Can you explain why someone would allow a dog to have mange so bad that there is NO fur left on their head? And can you also explain why once you let your unaltered, 5-6 year old dog get this bad, you will just sneak by the shelter in the middle of the night and dump him in a cage?
Why would you allow a two year old, PURE BRED Boston Terrier’s eye become so ulserated that it explodes? (May not be the right term, but you get the point.) Do people have ANY idea how much that must have hurt the dog and how long it took to get this bad? And why did these lovely examples of humanity would also dump it in the cage in the middle of the night?
Also, what is the big deal about dropping off your dogs to the shelter to be put-down because they are “too old”? I have a beautiful Shih Tzu, ugly Chi/Pug mix, and a sweet Pom that are both around 10 years old, because they were too old. The Shih Tzu and Pom have cataracts, but they have plenty of “pep” left! They are happy, healthy, and should have a good 4 to 5 years of life left! There is no real, quality of life issue, since they are able to eat fine, move around fine (they must have some type of vision because they don’t bump into things) and have no “accidents” around the house.
OK, folks, fill me in! Why would somone do this? Do people not realize that a dog is for life? Do they not understand that dogs sometimes need medical care and it is not free? Or, do people just not care?

1. False words lapse from my tongue
Fall where they don’t belong
While papers seek something new
Eerie winds stir bleak thoughts
Verses yearn for old notes
Dead roses cling to the dew
Words drown with sinking ships
rhyme dies between the lips
Just as rainbows lose their hue
Waves that dissipate shells
disperse stories to tell
Making poems incomplete
Metaphors lost in void
In poems we destroyed
Of poets seeking relief
My pens ran out of ink
While true emotions wilt
Poems will forever bleed
2. Growling thunder obstructs silence,
wind violently blows leaves about,
skipping across forest green grass.
Aimless spurts of yellow brighten
obscure skies of early summer.
Cotton clouds filled with rain burst,
heavy drops charge to the ground,
parched flowers open their wings,
as beads softly rest upon leaves,
tasting summer’s sweet surprise.
Friendly storm flees quietly,
as wind settles to a soft breeze.
Branches sway gracefully,
inhaling the fresh air;
summertime arrives at last.
3. Path of illusion seen from psychotropic eyes,
twisted interpretations created by demise.
Images distorted stagnant, cold and numb
a hallucinogenic world, reality becomes glum
Cataracts of the absurd blind reason and logic,
making thoughts superficial, dangerous and, toxic.
Deep in the muddy bog thought to be his mind
hate hangs like poison snakes deadly and maligned.
Never look into the eyes of the creature where evil sleeps
listen for his footfalls in your dreams he’ll creep.
Refuse his hand in friendship quickly turn away
his infectious touch spreads disease to all his prey
Optic portals of light blue, shine the color black
venomous blood flow in his veins waiting to attack.
He carries grudges in a sack each one has a name
turn and run it has begun the skillful lethal game.

Truth flies like a vulture
On the wing for carrion
Circling my rotting conscience
The stench of death fills the air
Sharp beaks peck at it’s eye
But the eyes were blinded long ago
By cataracts of false morals
Seeing my soul half dead
Burdened by twisting lies
Brought to my knees on the hot plains of Hell
I offer my first plea
Praying for a drop of water
Knowing none is meant for me
My swollen tongue closes
My mouth full of lies
And them my body catches up
With my soul that died

My Dog Has Cloudy Eyes……

My 11 month old dog has cloudy eyes.. they were red one day and he wasnt able to open them.. so i took him to the vet and they gave me some drops.. then he could open them but they were a little cloudy.. so i took him to the vet and they gave him some injections… now his eyes are open just fine, but the pupil is very cloudy.. very similar to cataracts? Is there anything else it could be? Isnt he too young to have cataracts? All the vets here are morons (i live in China) im flying home in 2 months… can it wait? will be puppy go blind? What can I do to him him? What could it be?
Help Ive been to 3 different vets!
