Is it possible that you are combining different eye surgery procedures?
Cataract surgery involves removing the natural crystalline lens within the eye after it has become cloudy, commonly due to age. A laser is normally not used in this process. Cataract surgery is exactly like Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE).http://www.usaeyes.org/lasik/faq/lasik-c…
The most popular laser eye surgery is Lasik, which is used to reduce the need for glasses or contact lenses.http://www.usaeyes.org/lasik/faq/lasik.h…
In some cases a laser is used after cataract surgery to improve vision if the thin membrane that held the crystalline lens become cloudy. This process (posterior capsulotomy) is performed with a ndYAG laser.http://www.kellogg.umich.edu/patientcare…

Laser cataract eye surgery is not painful and I have already done for my eyes. It is painless bloodless, and after the operation you can back home in the same evening. If you take rest with sunglasses inside the house and take the eye medicine drops regularly, within a weeks time you can be normal,After 15 days you can read books and see TV programmes even.
Why heed heard verdicts, when after actual experience I found that it is not, and healing is also fast provided you are not diabitic. Again, the whole process is fast, but l5 minutes should be dismissed as a joke.

These are two different things (as pointed out above) but to answer your question, YES! In either case!
The newest techniques involve topical anesthetics (eye drops) as opposed to a "block injections". Block injections are used in all different areas of medicine- essentially they anesthetize a nerve that serves a larger area. In this case, the eye.
Both Lasik and Cataract surgery can be completed in under 10 minutes and without having to receive an injection.
Some physicians still choose to use injections prior to cataract surgery which is not necessarily a bad thing! Be sure to ask your doctor the exact procedure to be sure if you don't want an injection. I have never heard of a doctor using a block injection for Lasik surgery.
Good Luck!
