Its like where your eye starts forming a white layer. The layer will cause visual abilities to decrease. Think of it like a sheet placed in front of your face. You can’t see. You have to get it surgically removed. If you do not remove it then it will slowly engulf the rest of the eye and cause blindness. So get it removed as quick as possible. I heard that the surgery is pretty easy.

some people have cataracts and don’t realize it. they grow slowly on the back of the eye. things get dimmer, like the light isn’t as good as it was. or colors aren’t as bright. floaters don’t affect vision. they look like something is in front of you, when they’re really inside your eye.

My grandmother had cataract. It’s like a new retinal lens or something. She said at first it was SO crisp. But then everytime you look a different direction you see lights. And also, now it’s the thing about the floaters. There’s so many of them! But she has to get used to it…

I wish you the best of luck!

Cataracts is hardening of the natural lens in your eye. It is natural and every one over the age of 50 has some level of cataract. It becomes clouded and if it is too “mature” it needs to be removed only to improve vision not for health reasons.

To tell if you have a cataract your vision may become blurred and hazed. Most patients discribe it has seeing through fog. Some patients cataracts mature at a sow rate and blame their vision imparment on age.

It sounds like you have posterior vitreous detatchment. In your eye there is a gel, the vitreous. As we get older, usually at around 40, it begins to seperate from the retina all the way around. It sometimes clumps and those clumps get into your line of vision so what you see are shadows. The symptoms are flashes of light and floaters.

But if you see several of flashes of light, increase in floaters, brown spots or a curtain that blocks a section of your vision, call your ophthalmologist immediately or go to the emergency room those indicate a more sever problem.
