it’s normal to have a shadow on the left side when I glance to the right.

    No, it is not normal to have a shadow after cataract surgery. The best answer I can give is to see your surgeon immediately. After cataract surgery there are a few normal side effects; blurred vision, excessive tearing, sensitivity to light, possible halos around lights. The shadow can be a numerous amount of things but it is good to get your eyes checked. Shadow can be a PVD posterior vitreous detachment but it can also be a retinal detachment which is somewhat common after cataract surgery. Honestly the faster you catch a retinal detachment the better it is for treatment…..hope this helps…..

    no that is absolutely not normal.

    it is quite rare but it is possible to have a detached retina after cataract surgery. you need to see your surgeon immediately to see what is wrong. if it is a detached retina it needs to be fixed asap to prevent permanant blindness in the eye cuz the damage occurs very quickly.
