His eye is covered in a blue/red/brown film. It changes in the light. Around the eye is a little blood shot, but not terrible. The dog in question is not in my hands. It looks like a cataract, but I can’t be too sure.

The appearence to the naked eye of a human would be very similar. If you are concerned that your pet may have glaucoma, definitely see a vet, it is a very painful condition, that can be relieved by eye drops.

You cannot visibly see glaucoma. Glaucoma is abnormal pressure within the structure of the eye. The fluid within the eye is affected and will cause the optic nerve to deteriorate causing blindness. Cataract is a thickening whitish film that covers the lense of the eye.

I do not mean to scare you, but your dog could have cancer of his eye. Please see the vet.

No. Glaucoma is pressure increase in the eyes and a Cataract is the whitening of the lens on the eye.

It eventually covers the whole lens and makes the eye blind. It can be fixed in humans by replacing the lens but I have never heard of it in animals.

Glaucoma will cause blindness by due to a different reason. The pressure kills the nerve and cones.
