In my experience, better vision. It’s your right to get a second doctor’s opinion before any surgery. Hope this helps.

If you are having cataract surgery at the age of 34 there is one immediate side effect, but no real long term side effects.
The artificial replacement lens will not have the ability to accommodate, change focus to suit near vision, so instantly the question of reading glasses or varifocals will need to be settled.
(There are bifocal implants, and one somewhat experimental accommodating implant: I’m not placed to recommend either.)
If the operation is to one eye only, the balancing of the two eyes for near may prove tricky.
But the longevity of a successful cataract operation implant is effectively a lifetime, with no addtional risks beyond those attending a cataract operation at any age.
